| The Plaza Classic Film Festival is pleased to host the world premiere of Sony’s million dollar restoration of David Lean’s epic war story – a winner of 7 Academy Awards in 1958, including Best Picture. The film takes place in a Japanese POW camp in 1943, where British Colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness) is ordered by the Japanese commander to build a bridge that will transport ammunition to the front lines. A battle of wills ensues, until Nicholson agrees, as a morale booster for his fellow prisoners and to prove the superiority of the British troops- even as prisoners.
