The Plaza Classic Film Festival will return to the historic Plaza Theatre in downtown El Paso, Texas, August 2-12, 2012. This year’s festival is shaping up to be the largest festival yet with details rolling out soon.
This year’s Plaza Classic will include over 80 feature films along with short film screenings, concerts, receptions, special guests and not one, but two important art exhibitions. We’ll celebrate not only our own fifth anniversary, but more importantly, the centennial of two iconic Hollywood studios – Universal and Paramount! Look for a special festival thread commemorating the celluloid legacy of these two film producers. As part of that celebration, we’re presenting two very special art exhibitions in partnership with the El Paso Museum of Art and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Paramount Pictures Archive. Running July 14th through September 9th, the Plaza Classic will present gowns, drawings, personal notes from iconic costume designer Edith Head. Additionally, we’ll exhibit a number of important and recognizable jewelry pieces from most of Paramount’s 100 years of films.

Festival Passes are already on sale for $200 from the El Paso Community Foundation by calling (915) 533-4020. Passholders will enjoy expedited entry into all film screenings, invitation to the opening night of the art exhibitions (July 13, 2012), invitation to the festival’s VIP Opening Night film screening and reception, special discounts at local restaurants and more. (Plus the satisfaction that you’ve helped make possible the world’s largest classic film festival!)
